Firstly, I would like to thank the academy. I found a great niche last night., Though the offer I’m promoting for it isn’t the greatest, My ad copy has a 9% CTR so I’m not too concerned. In light of this I decided to write about finding and qualifying your niche.

Finding a Niche

finding a niche Finding a good niche is sometimes a lot like sifting through dirt to find gold. However If you arm yourself with the right tools you can find ideas at a lightning pace, Test them quickly and take a lot of the guess work out of niche marketing. And Don’t worry If you’re not an affiliate marketer, There’s something for everyone here.

1) Seomoz Popular Searches

Seomoz hit a home run with this Mash up. It compiles data from over 10 different sources to give you a great Idea at a glance of what people have been buying and searching for as of late. And of course all of the individual sources are obviously great places as well to look for your next niche marketing idea. An almost endless source of ideas can stem from this one page.

2) Top20Hotness

Yes, When I first saw this page I to almost hit the back button and vomited all over my keyboard in disgust at the amount of advertising present on this page…

However, As I continued to explore the site it won me over with it’s functionality. See what’s selling and what’s being searched In numerous categories, And become a member so you can keep a scrap book of ideas. Who knows, Maybe even throw the creator a bone and click on one of the thirty seven million advertisements.

Quick Tip: Browse the top menu bar, Upon clicking a category such as books, The whole side bar will fill up with best selling books at the time. Pretty cool huh?

3) MSN Ad Labs Commercial Intention Tool

Today I got an email from a friend titled “I want your tool”. The tool he was referring to was this one, Because frankly I had told him about it in the past and, Maybe told isn’t the right word, And raving is more accurate…

Ever since I began to trust this tool, And learned to read between the lines through a bit of trial and error, This has become one of my favorite marketing and niche research tools. Find out if your PPC or SEO terms are targeting people with open wallets or not.

Quick Tip: Take a few of the most glaringly obvious keywords to search for your niche and see how they fare in the Commercial Intention Tool. Saves lots and lots of test campaigns.

4) MSN Demographic Tool

If you are planning on starting a new business, blog or making an information product. This tool can prove extremely valuable in determining the most basic information about your target audience. How old are they and what gender? Also great for wasting time.

Did you know that 57% of all searches for the term “vodka” is my females? Does that mean they are better drinkers than men? Not sure. All I know is all this thinking is making me thirsty. Time for a beer ;)
